Klima Fishing Village on the Island of Milos, Greece:

When I reached the bottom of a long downhill footpath, I immediately saw the white buildings with contrasting balconies, doors, and stairs. It was quiet. A handful of people were out in the water, with boats docked on the shore. The houses were on a cement dock that instantly met the water. As I walked along the dock, the tranquil sounds of the water lapping rang in my ears.

We walked around the area and found an open shop (shown on the canvas, the building with the yellow balcony). Beach art pieces hung at the entrance of the shop. I went in to take a peek. From the outside, the buildings looked like regular homes. However, once we went into one, I noticed how these houses were built into the rocks. These boat houses, known as Syrmata, are why this area of Milos has gained popularity. In the past, these two-story Syrmata homes were used by local fishermen. Today, many have been converted into tourist accommodations, allowing for a unique vacation experience.
