Blue Waters of Mylopotas Beach

Location: Mylopotas Beach on Ios in Greece

The sweeping curve of Mylopotas Beach reveals one of the most beautiful coastlines on the island of Ios. From above, the brilliant blue water stretches across the bay while soft waves roll gently toward the sandy shore. 

This view was captured from the nearby Odysseas Elytis Theatre, a location that offers an unforgettable backdrop overlooking the sea. Earlier that day we had kayaked on these same waters, watching the sunlight reflect across the electric blue surface. Standing here in the late afternoon light, it felt impossible to look away from the horizon.

Typically my husband, Will, does all the research and planning for our travels, but I decided to create our Greek island itinerary. Which meant Will had no idea what he was about to see. And as we walked up, he was purely in shock as he looked out at an incredible backdrop to this theater. 

“How is this even the background of the theater?!” Will blurted out. “Who would pay attention to what’s happening on stage with that behind them?! What an absolutely incredible view.” 

This photograph is part of my collection of peaceful coastal moments captured while traveling the world. My hope is that when you display this print in your home, it brings a sense of calm and transports you to the moment it was taken.
